Martin Ott Smith III, 65, of Round Rock, TX, passed away on November 17, 2025, in Austin, TX.
He was born in Loma Linda, CA, on September 28, 1960. He grew up in Colton, CA, and was also known as Marty or Nas to his family and friends. He gained the name Dad with the births of his son Christopher, and daughter Marcy. And then became Poppy to his grandkids: Zakhary, Tyler, Andrew, Robert, Christopher Jr., Chase, and Charlotte.
He met his love, Chandra Chong Xiong, in 2003, and they married in 2010.
He graduated from Colton High School in 1978, and went to earn his Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering in San Bernardino, CA. He also attended Austin Community College and Texas State University.
Martin was a Cybersecurity executive and professional before retiring in 2024. His multiple certifications include Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH), EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE), and Certified Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL). He was a member of InfraGard- Austin Alliance, and Austin OWASP.
He enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including bowling, gardening, precision sports, welding, and general tinkering in his garage. He received his amateur radio license in 2021. He firmly believed in philanthropy, with many organizations benefiting from his kindness. He was proud to be a blood donor, with over a gallon donated.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Arliss Jeannine Gingras, and father, William Van Smith, brothers Clay, and Dave, and sisters, Marion, and Paula.
He is survived by his wife, Chandra Chong Xiong; his son, Christopher Smith (Nicole), grandsons Robert and Christopher, Jr.; his daughter Marcy Smith-Craig (Shawn), grandson Chase Craig and granddaughter Charlotte Craig.
Visitation services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Beck Funeral Home in Austin, Texas (Round Rock).
