Jonathan Robert Blue
February 11, 1979 – November 5, 2025
Jonathan Robert Blue ("Jon") was born in Austin, Texas on February 11, 1979. Jon passed away at home on November 5, 2025, at the age of 46.
Jon was proud to have earned the title of United States Marine. After graduating Boot Camp, the School of Infantry, and the Infantry Squad Leader Course, Jon served in the United States' Marine Corps ("USMC") with the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division ("The Magnificent Bastards") at Camp Pendleton from 1999-2003. 2/4's Motto is "Second to None" and Jon was a Marine's Marine who strove every day to be the best Marine possible and uphold that motto. Jon embodied the spirit of the Corps and lived out the Corps' Values of Honor, Courage and Commitment. Jon earned the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (With 1 Star), and twice earned the Expert Rifle Badge. After his Honorable Discharge, Jon stayed loyal to his Marines and continued to serve through Marine and Veteran Charities like Toys-4-Tots.
After leaving the Marines, Jon became an entrepreneur and small business owner. He enjoyed helping people through his construction, remodeling and handyman business. Jon brought people joy through his business endeavors in music and concert production and his involvement with the production of community events like the "Trail of Lights," the Austin City Limits Music Festival ("ACL"), South by Southwest ("SXSW"), the "Festival at the Switchyard" and numerous other events throughout the country.
Jon was a talented musician who played the guitar, keyboard, harmonica and other instruments. He was rarely happier than when performing and playing music for family, small groups of friends or for concert crowds.
Jon was a sports enthusiast and was a fan of the Texas Longhorns, Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys. Jon was also an avid dog lover.
Jon was a family man. He is a beloved son to Ruth and George Blue who survive him. He is the cherished brother of Alexander Blue (Michelle) and Alison Bordelon (Eric). Jon was an adored Uncle to his nephews and nieces: Trevor, Kaitlyn, Luke and Isabel. Jon loved nothing more than being a daddy to his daughter Emma Blue (his little "Emma Bear"). He was a wonderful father who is now her guardian angel.
Jon will continue to be loved, deeply missed and fondly remembered forever by Emma, his family, his Marines, and countless friends and fans.
