Martin J. "Marty" Volek
Neptune City-Martin Volek, 73, of Neptune City, New Jersey passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024. "Good Friday 2024."
Marty was born in Neptune in 1950 to Marie & Edward Volek. Growing up in Ocean Township the 3rd of 7, Marty was an active kid who had an assortment of hobbies and activities that certainly kept his mother on her toes with his brothers and sisters.
For upwards of 40 years Marty worked at Monmouth Awnings in Asbury Park, where he became a staple in the Monmouth county shore area community. Being one of their longest tenured employees everyone got to know who Marty was. Unmistakable with his signature long blonde pony-tailed hair he had a distinct look that wasn't easy to forget.
His impact on people, and how he made them feel however, was even more captivating. Anyone who had the pleasure of getting to know Marty instantly fell in love with the kindhearted, selfless nature he blessed the world with. He always made himself available to his family and friends to do anything they needed whether it be awnings, odd jobs, or simply offering his warm presence. In addition, he also exuded a quiet strength about him noticed by those who understood the challenges that he faced. He was proud to be 30+ years sober and also made sure that he never missed going to Church every Sunday. He enjoyed music. If you saw you a truck on the road that said Monmouth Awning on the side with ladders jingling and music blasting, that was probably Marty. Some of his favorites were Willie Nelson, Eric Clapton, and The Beach Boys. He supported the veterans. As he was someone who knew intimately what sacrificing self in order to help serve a greater good looked like as well. He did that for many years to help take care of his beloved mother in the later stages of her life. The concept of no one having a bad word to say about someone is overused but with Marty it was actually true. He left an indelible mark on everyone he touched and made everyone's life better just by being in it. Marty was a man who held many titles and he took pride in them all. Most notably he was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, godfather, and friend.
He was predeceased by his mother and father, Marie and Edward Volek and his brother Michael Volek.
He is survived by his brothers Edward and Daniel, his sisters Patricia, Frances, and Julia, his son Martin Jr., his granddaughter Addie and a whole host of nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Saint Catharine's Cemetery in Sea Girt on Thursday, April 11 th at 11:30am.
A special thank you to the entire staff at Jersey Shore Post Acute, Serenity Hospice, Dr. Angelo Chinnici, Dr. Ethan Wasserman and the staff at Jersey Shore University Medical Center who all provided Marty with excellent care.
The world could use more Marty's in it, and everyone could use more of who Marty was in them. Heaven gained a Guardian Angel, who among many things, was a deep lover, and also one strong individual.
Marty, we will all love and miss you forever, cherish your memory, share your stories, and be eternally grateful for everything you did for us and the love that you showed us.
Rest easy man you deserve it.

A salute to Marty from the members of his old high school era band The Patch. Marty played rhythm guitar and bass. His beautiful pale green Gibson wide body, cut out was our coolest instrument, as it was made famous by Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones. We played many parties and events, most notably the proms at Asbury High and St, Rose High. Marty had a sweet disposition and an impish sense of humor. He was always easy to work with. Those were our Glory Days.

Love to you Marty

It was my pleasure to know Marty, to care for him, and just enjoy his smile. Very soft spoken, I never heard a single negative comment from him. We will miss him at Jersey Shore Post Acute. My condolences to his family especially my friend Julie, who loves and adores her brother so much. May you rest in peace Marty.
