Martina Casey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service - North Chapel on Jan. 28, 2026.
God called to eternal peace, Martina Gulliford Casey on January 26, 2026, having blessed this world for 105 years. May she rest in the gentle embrace of Our Father in Heaven. Aunt Martina was born to John and Geneva Gulliford on November 21, 1920.

She graduated from Marion High School in 1937. She became Mrs. Manson Casey in September 1963.

Martina was a beloved daughter, sibling, spouse and friend whose kindness, warmth, and generosity touched the lives of many. She gave her life to Jesus in her early teens and dedicated her life to serving in the church at Allen Temple and Bethel AME churches. She sang in the choir from an early age and even started a youth choir called the Temple Tones. She and her sisters sang at many events in the Marion area including weddings, funerals and several social events.

After graduating from Marion High School, Martina began working for Farnsworth and RCA until her retirement. She remained active with her coworkers, often meeting for lunch. She was active in the community and the church as long as she was able to do so. Aunt Martina was affectionately known as one of the 'Golden Girls' along with Elizabeth Stewart and Irene Beck as they spent hours together attending many of Marion's events with their children.

Martina leaves behind three nieces, Pamela Gulliford Scroggins, Cydney Barret McElroy and Monaei Gulliford Burnett, as well as several cousins who helped her navigate in her later years, great-nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Manson Casey; her parents John and Geneva Gulliford; four sisters, Louise, Elsie, Rowena and Vera; three brothers; John Cleon, Cantrell and Blaine, and two nephews; James Drew and Bryant. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life for Martina will be held at a later date at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Mrs. Casey was such a wonderful woman. She was a ray of sunshine whenever she came in shopping at Marsh/Needler's. One of my most favorite customers. She will be missed.

Aunt Martina was a wonderful person. Kind to people and God fearing. We enjoyed many meals and conversations over the years as she adopted me and my youngest son. My prayers and condolences to her family and to all those who were there to care for and comfort her in her later years.

What a wonderful sweet friend Martina was. We met a long time ago at the Lenten services where all the churches gathered. Then she & her husband bought my parents home on St Rd 15. She loved to sing & at 90 she sang in a choir at Marion High, can't remember what the event was, but many gathered together. May she rest in peace in God's arms.
