Marva Lee Beghtel, 74, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away at her home on October 7, 2025.
Marva was born on November 17, 1950, the daughter of Francis and Thelma (Frost) Melton. She received her education in Des Moines and later returned to complete her high school diploma.
She married Donald Beghtel, and to this union a son, Aaron, was born. They later divorced. Throughout her life, Marva worked in a variety of roles. She was employed at Norwest Bank in the Call Center, owned and operated Campbell's Tropical Snow and Frozen Dessert in Urbandale and Valley Junction. She was a housekeeping manager for the Hampton Inn in Des Moines. However, her greatest joy came from her years at Skate Country, now known as Skateland, where she loved being part of the skating community.
In her free time, Marva enjoyed roller skating and bowling.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Judy; and brother, Terry Melton.
Marva is survived by her son, Aaron Beghtel; granddaughter, Kristine Lynn Beghtel; great-grandson, Madden John Long; sister-in-law, Phyllis Melton; two nephews, Colin and Drew Melton; and her lifelong best friend, Anita Lee.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Iles Westover Chapel, 6337 Hickman Road, Des Moines.
