Marvin Lee Crouse, Clive, passed away November 13, 2023 at the age of 90 from complications related to Parkinsons Disease at Silvercrest of Woodlands Creek.
Marvin Lee Crouse was born in Ft. Dodge, IA on February 11, 1933. He was the fifth son of six born to Fred and Mildred (Johnson) Crouse. He attended rural schools, Zion Community School and Creston Schools.
In 1952, he was drafted into the US Army and served on the front lines of the Korean Conflict. After his discharge, he worked for Herzberg Construction in Creston, Wm. Knudsen Construction in Des Moines and later owned and operated his own trucking company, M. L. Crouse Trucks, Inc.
He married Patty White in Creston, IA on June 3, 1956. They lived in
Long Beach, CA briefly, then settled in the Beaverdale area until 1987 when they moved to Urbandale. They moved to Silvercrest of Woodlands Creek Assisted Living in Clive in March of 2020.
He was a member of VFW Post 1797 of Creston and Local #106 of the Carpenters Union. He remodeled houses, rebuilt salvage cars and loved classic cars. He enjoyed spending the winter in their motorhome in AZ and TX.
Marvin is survived by his wife Patty of 67 years; daughter Sherri Newell of Johnston and son Robert (wife Kathy) Crouse of Waukee; granddaughters Sarah Dunaway of Minnesota, Nikki Lloyd of Johnston, Susan Lloyd (partner A. J. Curfman) of Des Moines and Stephanie (husband Kyle) Evans of Holt, MO; ten great grandchildren, Logan and Lucas Dunaway, Jordan and Jerome Davis, Alex Bautista, Austin Lloyd, Jasmine and Jessica Curfman, Archer and Elliott Evans; one great-great granddaughter Kaelyn Dunaway; sister-in-law Juanita Crouse of Peoria, AZ; brother-in-law Richard (Perk) White of Brighton, CO; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Keith (1997), Art and Carl in 2001, Loren (2010) and David (2023); great granddaughter Kimora Curfman in 2009.
Marvin's family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the wonderful people at Woodlands Creek and the Unity Point Hospice who provided Marvin with exceptional and loving care.
Visitation will be 9 AM - 10 AM Saturday, December 18, 2023, at Iles Westover Chapel with the funeral service following at 11 AM. Entombment will be at Resthaven Mausoleum, West Des Moines.
Please join the family following the interment for a reception at Woodlands Creek Independent Center, 12695 Woodlands Parkway, Clive, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for a determination later.
