Marvin Carl Gathright

Marvin Carl Gathright of Princeton, Texas passed away August 27, 2025 at the age of 78. He was born to William Coy and Mary Dell (Burkhart) Gathright on July 15, 1947 in Nashville, Arkansas.
A proud veteran, Marvin served his country honorably in the United States Navy. Following his service, he built a successful business, MCG, Inc., which he owned and operated for over 53 years with dedication and integrity.
On January 25, 1992, Marvin married the love of his life, Virginia Barrett (Wessinger), in Clifton, Texas. Together, they shared many years of love, partnership, and adventure. In his free time, Marvin enjoyed riding his Harley, collecting cars, fishing, and playing the guitar.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Virginia Gathright of Princeton, Texas; daughter, Lisa Michelle Torres of Greenville, Texas; son, Chad Barrett and wife, Kathryn of McKinney, Texas; son, Jason Barrett and wife, Leslie of Aubrey, Texas; grandchildren, Andrew, Aidan (Savannah), Ryan Elizabeth and Adrian Barrett, Tyler Loya, Zackary (Berenice), Bradley (Michaella), Daniel (Ryann) Torres, and George and Alexander Flores; great grandchildren, Julien, Elena, Charlee, and Sophia; and several cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Michael Joe Gathright, and grandchildren, Aaron Gathright and Christopher Loya.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The service will also be live streamed at the following link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/marvin-gathright. Interment will be held at Ridgeview Memorial Park following the service.
The family will receive guests for a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
