Marvin Keith Hamilton, born on December 24, 1938, in Wauneta, Nebraska, embarked on his final journey on April 5, 2025, in Greeley, Colorado. A man whose heart beat in time with the roar of engines and the echoes of laughter, defined his life through an unwavering love for cars, family, and camaraderie.
Marvin and his son Marty started the Good Times Bar in Wauneta on February 24, 1981, spending over thirty years devoted to the business. His expertise spanned the full spectrum, from sales to servicing, a testament to his lifelong devotion to things that moved with haste. Growing up immersed in the family business, Marvin developed an insatiable passion for automobiles, finding joy not just in their beauty but in their mechanics—the faster the car, the better. In his youth, he reveled in the thrill of motorcycle rides, the wind rushing past him. Each ride was a celebration of freedom, an exhilarating escape on the open road that sparked a joy that would last throughout his life.
Marvin cherished the holiday seasons, specifically the warmth and joy that filled his home during Christmas. Of course, he loved to celebrate his birthday during this time too. Marvin embraced the simple yet profound pleasures of life, often found at the card table playing pitch—every Thursday in Imperial and Fridays at Pine Grove—sharing laughter and stories as the cards were dealt.
Marvin's contributions extended beyond his professional endeavors; for over 25 years, he was a proud member of the Wauneta Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance crew, always ready to lend assistance when needed, embodying the spirit of service and community. His adventures even took him to Daytona, where he had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to race a few exhilarating laps around the famed Daytona Speedway.
Marvin is survived by his long time friend, JoAnn Diedrich, his sons, Marty (Linda) Hamilton and Jared Hamilton, his grandsons, Zane and Riley Hamilton, and his brother, Richard Hamilton.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Ray, Robert, and Rodney Hamilton.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Wauneta Senior Center in Marvin's Memory.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at the Wauneta United Methodist Church with Rev. Janie Freeman officiating. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta.
