Marvin Hollis was born April 14, 1938, to Jacob Raymond “Jay” Hollis, and Mildred Laverne Hollis (Long) in Greenwood County Kansas. He was their fourth child and first son. Marvin attended Ruweda Grade School. He was baptized into the Hamilton Baptist church around 1950. He graduated from Hamilton High School. After High School, Marvin joined the Navy, and served for four years, and was stationed in Maryland, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and Newfoundland. After the Navy, Marvin moved to Wichita, KS and worked for Miro-Flex, which was a lettering and sign company. He also was a farm machinery mechanic in Whitewater, KS. In the late 1970’s he moved back to the family homestead to help his father with the cattle ranch operations. After his father’s death, he continued to raise cattle. He was an active member of the Salem township board, and he enjoyed going to cattle auctions. Marvin never married and never had children. He lived on the old family homestead near Hamilton with Kenneth Johns and Janette Taylor, his nephew and niece from his sister, Nellie. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Mildred Hollis, and his sisters, Rosalie Garrison and Nellie Taylor.

He is survived by his sisters, Annie Kepley, Frances Brewer, and his brother, Ralph Hollis (Connie), and several nieces and nephews.
