Thomas "Marvin" Jones, age 71 of Ellijay, GA passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. Marvin was born on October 17, 1953, in Ellijay, GA to his late parents Floyd and Burnice Ruth "Lowe" Jones. Marvin was a Gilmer High School graduate. Marvin served his country honorably in the US Army. Marvin was also a 2nd-degree black belt in karate at Ben Kiker Studios. Marvin retired from Pilgrim's Pride after over 45 years of employment. Marvin was also a member of Salem Baptist Church. Marvin is preceded in death by his brother Emory Jones.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Lavonne Jones, children Melonie Clemmons-Lockhart (Rob) and Brent Clemmons (Jeannie), grandchildren Brentney Clemmons Cooper "Coop", Savannah Clemmons, Shelby Clemmons, Sidney Clemmons, Emily Clemmons, and Ana-Verie Lockhart, sister Clola McArthur (Buford), sister-in-law Wanda Jones, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 4 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 1 pm at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Stover officiating. Darin McArthur, David Jones, Michael Reed, Jeremy Parks, Brannon McVey, and Adam McVey will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Ledford, James Walker, Bobby, and Michael Watkins. The interment will be in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. Online condolences may be made at www.loganfuneralhome.com. Logan Funeral Home & Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
