Marvin Bruce Luke "Bub," passed away at his home in Oxford, Nebraska, on August 6th, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on August 3rd, 1950, to Marvin A. and Helene Luke in Oxford, Nebraska. Marvin was baptized and received his first communion at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Oxford, Ne. Later in life, Marvin became a member of St. John Lutheran Church where he served as an usher for many years and various committees.
Marvin attended Mascot School until 8th grade. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1968 where he enjoyed playing sports. He met the love of his life, Barbara Luke (Leising), in the summer of 1969, and they married in Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1970. Shortly after their marriage, Marvin and Barbara moved back to Oxford, where Marvin worked on the family farm following his father's passing. Over the next 30 years, Marvin and Barbara raised their three children—Jennifer Bartels (Luke), Travis Luke, and Ryan Luke on the farm.
Marvin was a dedicated farmer while also working at Mascot School as a custodian, bus driver, and volunteer baseball and basketball coach. In addition, he served as a feed store manager for TNT Farm Service while continuing to farm until 2007. Later, Marvin worked as a Rural Mail Carrier in Holdrege, Nebraska until his retirement in 2022.
Marvin had a deep love and respect for the legacy of the Luke farm. He was a passionate horseman, enjoying the raising of horses and cattle, as well as many years spent with his kids in 4-H. In his later years, Marvin found joy in hunting with his children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories with them.
His greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren: Luke and Maxwell Bartels, Brett Luke and Brooklyn Ridenour (Luke), Hadleigh, Jase, and Brant Luke. Marvin relished attending their sporting events, always their biggest supporter and fan.
