Marvin J. Ott, Jr., age 87, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and respected community leader, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025. Born on January 9, 1938, in Baltic, Ohio, Marvin carried the spirit of his small-town roots throughout an impactful life dedicated to his family, his work, and his community.
Marvin served honorably in the United States Navy before attending and graduating from Roger Williams University in Rhode Island, building the foundation for a successful career as an Engineer in Environmental Regulations. With a passion for nature and a commitment to conservation, he approached his work with a generous wisdom that inspired his colleagues and made a lasting difference in the communities he served.
Marvin found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid golfer and a devout fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Guardians, passions that he shared with friends and family alike. Within the St. James Golf Club, he was much more than a member; as a community volunteer, a pod director, and past president and vice president of the HOA Board, his loving spirit and insightful guidance resonated throughout the community.
Preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Jacob Ott Sr and Myrtle E. Croft; sister Ellen Hart, and brother Marcus Ott, Marvin is survived by his loving spouse of 54 years, Corinne H. Ott, his children Karlene Fratus (Roger) and Marvin Jacob Ott III (Caitlin), and his adored grandchildren Tyler, Gretchen, Charlie, Oliver, and Rory. His sister-in-law, Barbara Paolino, also remains to honor his memory.
In a life so fully lived, Marvin embodied the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: "To leave the world a bit better... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Marvin succeeded indeed, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, intellect, and love will continue to guide us for generations to come.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Thursday, January 30th at 1:30PM with a service to begin at 2PM at Yates Funeral Home, 7951 South Federal Highway, Port St Lucie, FL 34952.

Marvin was a good friend, colleague and rival. Being a Penn State fan I would always rub it in when PS would beat Ohio. Lately, his OSU seemed to come out with the win.
He was a great asset to the St. James Community.
He will be greatly missed.
Rest in peace.
