Marvin Warren Prellberg, age 92, originally from Arlington Heights, IL, passed away peacefully to be with
the Lord on January 4, 2024, at his senior living residence in Gilbert, AZ. Marvin is proceeded in death
by his wife, Barbara of 65 years, his brother Ronald, and by his parents, Marvin and Lucile. Marvin is
survived by his 4 children, Bonnie, Terri, Mark and Jeff, their respective spouses, 8 grandchildren and 5
great grandchildren. He had a long, wonderful life and cherished time with family, friends, and
associates very much. He left a very positive legacy and was well liked and thought highly of wherever
he went.
Marvin was born in Mt. Prospect, IL to Marvin and Lucile on December 26, 1931. He grew up and went
to school in Arlington Heights, IL, graduating from Arlington High School in 1949. Marvin then went on
to attend Ripon College, a small liberal arts school in Ripon WI, graduating in 1953 with a BA in
Economics and a 2 nd Lt. Commission in the US Army, courtesy of Ripon's ROTC program. He served 2
years in the Army before following in the footsteps of his father and beginning a lifelong career in the
Petroleum industry working in Sales and being active in professional organizations. He last spent 25
years with Marathon Oil, retiring in 1992 and relocating to Peachtree City, GA to begin a fulfilling
retirement life with his wife Barbara. Marvin moved to Gilbert, AZ in the summer of 2021, a few years
after the death of Barbara in February 2018, to be near his 3 children who also lived in the Phoenix, AZ
area.
Marvin was always very involved in community service and touched many lives of all ages in generous
and loving ways through his local church, Kiwanis programs in the community and local schools, VFW,
and coaching youth sports. He was especially active in retirement in Peachtree City, receiving several
awards for his services through church and Kiwanis. Marvin especially loved the game of golf and played
throughout his life and into his late 80's.
A small private memorial service will be held for Marvin in Peachtree City, GA at a memorial Garden
where Barbara's ashes were also laid to rest. No details are available currently.
