MILLERSBURG - Marvin R. Troutman, 95, of Millersburg, died April 24, 2025 at home.
Marvin was born in Malta, Pennsylvania, October 23, 1929. He was the son of
Ada (Deppen) and Melvin Troutman.
Marvin graduated from Elizabethville High School and Eckels College of Mortuary Science.
A Korean War Veteran, he earned the esteemed Combat Infinity Badge.
He married his high school sweetheart, Doris Hoover in 1951.
Marvin lived a life full of purpose, service, and was well known for his entrepreneurial spirit. Marvin was a mortician by profession, and alongside his beloved wife Doris, a registered nurse, they were deeply committed to caring for others. In 1955, Marvin and Doris expanded their passions and embarked on a new adventure: becoming movie theater operators. What began as Martro Theatres eventually grew and evolved into Cinema Center, a name that would become well-known across central Pennsylvania. Not stopping there, Marvin and Doris launched Cinema Supply Inc., supplying candy and popcorn to theaters across five states. Through hard work, vision, and a love of bringing people together, the Cinema Center circuit grew to encompass 9 locations and 79 screens, creating cherished memories for countless moviegoers. Embracing their shared love of community, Marvin and Doris donated their first movie theatre, the Colonnade, to the Twin Valley Players. Marvin's life was a true testament to dedication, innovation, and love for his family and love for entertainment.
Marvin is survived by his three children; Trudy Withers (Paul), Gina Taffet (Bruce), and Van Troutman (Peg), seven grandchildren Andrew Withers, Gwendolyn Withers, Hannah DiSanto, Natalie DiSanto, Rachael Schlegel, Meredith Troutman, Aaron Troutman; and five great-grandchildren Hank Rudy, Everett Wilson, Lauren Schlegel, Mila Alvarez, and Miles Alvarez.
Marvin was involved in several community organizations including Susquehanna Lodge No.364 F&AM, Shriners, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Millersburg Forest No 125, Trinity UCC, Millersburg, National Association of Concessionaries, National Association of Theatre Owners, The Ned Smith Center, Millersburg Lions Club, Millersburg VFW, Millersburg American Legion, US Army 25th Infantry Association, The Twin Valley Players, and the Righthand Sugar Camp.
He was on the Board of Directors National Association of Theatre Owners of Pennsylvania, Upper Dauphin Human Service Center, Millersburg Area School Board, and the Oak Hill Cemetery Board.
There will be a Memorial Service celebrating the lives of Marvin and Doris (who passed away 10/3/2020) at Trinity United Church of Christ, Millersburg PA, May 17, 2025. Visitation will begin 10:30 AM with a service at 11:30 AM, with a graveside service to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg.
