BARCELONA – TIEN WEI MARVIN YEO passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. He was 53 years old.
Born in Singapore to Jacky Kheng Yeo and San Tee Lim, Tien Wei Marvin 'Marvs' Yeo arrived on the 31st of October 1971. He relished his Halloween birthdate, which he credited with his mischievousness and relative intrigue with both light and dark. His energy was and is a force.
Marvs collected friends across every continent, race, and gender. Known as the 'Roger Federer of Human Relations' by some, there was no serve he couldn't return. As a father of two 'Chewish' girls – Chinese and Jewish – he taught his daughters filial piety and how to understand the beauty and diversity of the world's cultures. He made sure they understood their Singaporean and Asian origin by emphasizing the importance of Chinese language, Chinese Kung Fu – Wing Chun and delighting with them in spicy foods like char kway teow and laksa. His favorite dish was Mee Pok, a fried pork noodle dish that he would seek out whenever he landed home.
And he was a foodie – he had recommendations for everyone in just about any city. He studied menus everywhere and loved to explore new restaurants as well as cook at home with the family.
As a sportsman he was somewhat obsessive. He LOVED golf and tennis. He played tennis nationally as a junior in Singapore and bonded with hundreds over golf more recently.
But above all, Marvs' love of knowledge knew no bounds. A voracious reader – his book collection topped 888 volumes – ranging from 'The Alchemist' to 'The Tao of Pooh' to 'Thinking Fast and Slow.'
He was a modern philosopher who advised family, friends and colleagues directly, generously and always with a smile and affection. His office was always open – frequently at the best bar or restaurant wherever he touched down.
There is really no way to encapsulate Marvs in a short collection of words because his energy was larger than life. In many ways becoming an organ donor – and specifically the sharing of his heart– was the only way he could have moved on from this life, he still has so much love to give and wisdom to share.
Surviving are his wife of 13 years, Lauren Nicole (née Sorkin) Yeo of Barcelona; his daughters, Samara Maya Yumei Yeo and Seraphina Liquan Yeo of Barcelona; his parents, Jacky Yeo and San Tee Lim; and his sister, Mirabelle Tinghui Yang.
