Mary Ann Claxton Obituary

Mary Ann Claxton, age 79, of Franklin, Tennessee passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024. She was born in Nashville, Tennessee on April 6, 1945, to the late Thomas H. Roberts and Mary R. Roberts. She graduated from St. Cecilia Academy and Peabody – Vanderbilt University.

Mary Ann was a gifted artist who loved to share her passion. She was able to teach arts and crafts at Patchwork Corner in Green Hills, Tennessee. She served on the library staff at St.Henry School & Father Ryan High School for several years. She also dedicated time to her community and was a member of the Williamson County Republican Women.

Mary Ann loved being in her butterfly garden at home and tending to her bird feeders. She was an avid reader of biographies, history, and novels. Whether she was on a boat in the ocean or a river, Mary Ann loved to be cruising. She also loved to travel to historic places like New England and especially Williamsburg, Virginia. As a devoted mother and wife, she loved spending time with her family including her loving husband, two sons, grandchildren, and of course her dogs, Maggie and Sadie. 

Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents listed above. She is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, John J. Claxton II; children, Robert True Claxton (Sonya), and Daniel Hamilton Claxton (Christina); and grandchildren, Tristen, Josie, Crawford, Jack, Cate, and Sarah Grace.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ladies of Charity, St. Cecilia Academy, Humane Association of Davidson or Williamson County, or the Alzheimer’s Association in Mary Ann Claxton’s honor.
