LEMAHIEU, Mary Ann

Mary Ann LeMahieu, 85 of Atlanta, GA, died April 17, 2025. Mary was born October 15, 1939 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Joseph Fayette LeMahieu and Leta Kobiske LeMahieu. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from the University of Wisconsin, and was a proud Wisconsin Badger and supporter of her alma mater her entire life. Mary spent 25 years working at the McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research at the University of Wisconsin before joining the American Cancer Society in Atlanta in 1988. She served as the Research Business Manager for extramural and intramural research teams. She retired after 32 years as the Senior Extramural Research Finance Manager in June of 2020 at the age of 80. She devoted over 57 years of her professional career in the field of cancer research. Mary also participated in the Wisconsin Longitudinal Study since 1957 for 68 years, the largest and longest running study in social sciences of its kind in the world. A devoted lifelong Lutheran, Mary was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Midtown Atlanta. She is survived by her dear friends, Walter L. Roberts, of Atlanta and Martha Mashburn Lappe, of Cumming, GA. A private inurnment will be held in the Columbarium of Lutheran Church of The Redeemer.
