Bonita “Bonnie” Claire LeMahieu, 100, of Oostburg, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025, 3 days after her 100th birthday, at Pine Haven Christian Communities – Haven Drive.
Bonnie was born on September 29, 1925, to Peter and Elfie (Stemerdink) Nyenhuis in Oostburg. In her high school years, Bonnie and her mom knit numerous caps and socks for the soldiers during World War II. She graduated from Oostburg High School in 1943 before attending an accredited beauty school in Milwaukee. Bonnie owned and operated Stylette in Oostburg for 35 years, retiring in 1988.
On August 5, 1948, she was united in marriage to Calvin LeMahieu in Oostburg. He preceded her in death on July 22, 2007.
Bonnie was a lifelong member of Bethel OPC, where she sang in the choir, was a Sunday School teacher, and a member of Rebekah Society and Senior Saints. She helped with the OCS and SCS School Circles for many years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking, and boating. She was gifted in hospitality and was an avid sports fan.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Mark (Lorraine) LeMahieu of Oostburg, Lynn (Bob) Koops of Downs, Kansas, Keith (Lauren) LeMahieu of Oostburg, and Jan (John) Tanis of Cawker City, Kansas; AFS son, Oscar Bonilla of Costa Rica; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Van Ess.
She was preceded in death by her husband Calvin, parents, sister Barbara (John) Fisher, brother-in-law Robert Van Ess, and two infant grandsons.
A funeral service to celebrate Bonnie’s life will be held at Bethel OPC in Oostburg on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 12:30pm. She will be laid to rest next to Calvin at Oostburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at church from 10:30am until the time of service.
