Mary Theresa Arceri

Our beloved aunt and cousin Mary passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023. She was 93 years old. The daughter of Pasquale "Patsy" Arceri and Anna Arceri, Mary was born on November 21, 1930, in Middletown, New York. Mary lived her entire life in Middletown-Mechanicstown as a homemaker at the family homestead on East Main Street. Mary spoke proudly of the many years she spent taking care of domestic chores while her mother and father tended to their various jobs in Middletown. Mary was especially proud of the years she, her brother Anthony, and their aunt Peggy Scali lived independently in the home they shared on Corwin Avenue. They prided themselves on maintaining a well-organized, spotless home that was open and inviting to family and friends alike. Although facing many physical challenges in her life Mary never gave up her role as a hard-working, productive member of her family. She had a wonderful sense of humor and laughed easily when recounting humorous stories from the past or reacting to the daily banter occurring around her at home. Mary amazed family members with her sharp memory of our family's history, recalling names, places, and dates that most of us had forgotten. Mary enjoyed watching "her soaps" along with many daytime game shows. Mostly, Mary enjoyed the company of her beloved brother Anthony, her aunt Peggy, and the many friends and family that visited regularly. Along with her parents, Mary was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Frieda and Thomas Isola, her brother Anthony Arceri, aunts Peggy Scali and Mary Scali Downing, her uncles Nicholas Schipon, Nicholas Scali, Vincent "Red" Scali, and Sam Scali, and cousins Steven Cavallaro and Michael Cavallaro. Mary is survived by her nieces Patty Isola and Fran Isola Ewing, her nephew Tom Isola, her great niece and nephew Jennifer Fawley and Scott Adelman, great, great niece Adrianna Fawley and great, great nephews Austin Fawley and Tyler Adelman, cousins Virginia Gollihue, Betty Scali Santos, Maryanne Cavallaro, and Nicky and Jim Scali, loving friend and frequent visitor Brian Halcott. The depth of our sorrow in the passing of Mary is equal to the depth of the love we had for her. She will be greatly missed and will remain in our hearts forever. Our family would like to thank the staff on Unit Two at Middletown Park for the care they gave Mary these past four years. A visitation will be held for Mary on Friday, December 29th, 2023, from 10AM to 12PM at Martinez-Morse Funeral Home, 33 Railroad Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
