Mary Ella Argoe

Mary Ella (Hewes) Argoe, age 86, of Hartly, Delaware passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025 at Bayhealth Kent Campus in Dover, Delaware.
Mary Ella is survived by her husband of 59 years, William H Argoe, and her children, Vicki and Marvin Larsen, Diane and Ken Simpson, Andrew Parag III and Carol, Robin Ayers, William Randy Argoe and Jamie, and Wendy and Dave Bobon, her 21 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Jessie May and James Robert Hewes, and her 12 siblings.
Mary Ella was a devoted mother and homemaker, she loved her children but adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren even more. She was also a foster mother and took care of children for the state of Maryland for 17 years.
She worked as a nurse's aide for four years at the Smyrna Hospital for the Chronically Ill. Mary Ella enjoyed going to sales, growing flowers and plants, attending the state fair and celebrating Christmas. She had a deep love for animals as well and was often bringing in strays. Her favorite baby was her beloved dog Maize, who alongside everyone else, will miss her dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 5PM to 8:30PM in the Faries Reception Hall, located at 29 S. Main Street in Smyrna.
