Born on February 5th, 1954, in Waco, TX. Mary was raised in Downsville, TX, alongside four other siblings. She was always humble, appreciative, and welcoming to all. Family was the most important thing to her; including work families, where she created friendships that have lasted decades. She worked 16 years at Avery-Denison, then 24 years at MCC; before finally retiring in 2021. She loved it most when the whole family could get together. She would sit back and watch the conversations and the interactions of her adult children, nieces, and nephews; and how it taught the next generation the importance of family. Her memory will be carried on through them, in their hearts and in their stories.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, John Vasquez Sr. (Popo), and Julia Vasquez (Momo); brother, John Vasquez Jr.; sister, Vickie Gomez; and nephew Baby Patrick Vasquez.
She is survived by her sister, Lupe Perez; brother, Ben Vasquez; sons, Tony Acevedo and Jose Adam Asebedo and wife Michelle; daughter, Maria Teresa Asebedo; grandchildren; Arieous Asebedo, Victoria Asebedo, Aidan Asebedo, Alessandra Asebedo and Deziah Asebedo; family pet, Roscoe Asebedo; and great-grandchildren, Eli'Jay Powell, Asher Anderson, Karcen Asebedo, Jeremy Powell Jr., Avayah Asebedo, and one more on the way.
She passed away January 28, 2024, on her mother's birthday. She went home to celebrate with her mom and dad. Mary, we miss you already and we love you so much.

Mary, made me laugh many times when we worked at Avery-Dennison. We worked together for several years and she always had a smile for everyone.

Our birthdays are two days apart - Mine is on Feb 3rd - so she always teased me for being older. All through the years she has stayed in touch and I so appreciated the many phone visits and fun memories!

I will share one neat memory - When I was her supervisory she called into work one morning to let me know she had a flat and was stranded on the road trying to get to work. This was before cell phones so I was amazed that she was able to walk to a station and give me a call. I left work and went and put the spare tire on her car. This is one example of Mary's desire to do her best. She was a special friend and outstanding employee. She cared about others and made things better.
