Mary Wait (Wallace) Ayers,73, of Irvington, AL passed away on March 1, 2026. She was born on February 7, 1953 to the late Wesley Duey and Joanne Vanderwerf Wait of Campo, CO.

Mary moved to Gulfport, MS in 2005 where she met James (Jim) Ayers. They married Sept. 21, 2007. They lived their life, traveling, spending time with children/grandchildren, and their babies Macaw birds. Mary lived a life rooted in kindness, family especially her grandchildren, and the simple joys that brought her happiness.

She is preceded in death by her parents Wesley and Joanne Wait; her brothers, Johnny Wait, Roger Wait, and Walter Wait; her sister Wanda Wait.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, James Ayers, children, Tommy (Natasha) Wallace of Houston, TX and Marsha (Troy) Whaley of Gulfport, MS. She was a proud MeMe to Marissa Wallace, Leia Stewart, Tyler Wallace, Diana Hughes, Laianna Whaley, and great meme to Delilah Hughes, Daphne-Rose Hughes, Annie Filibeck, Jackson Garriga, and Fenrir Stewart. She is further survived by her sisters, Susan Bernal, Carol Schwede, Ruth Russell and Viola Wait with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mary was a loving wife, mother and meme whose family was the center of her world. She especially found great joy being a MeMe. Her calm and loving heart left a lasting impact. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

"Good Morning, Love ya!"
