Moving to Austin, TX as a small child, losing her father in a tragic accident it was a hard for the family of four. Mary Helen grew up in Austin enjoying the parks and pools downtown. In her teen years the family moved to Corpus Christi, TX where she graduated high school at Corpus Christi High School. Once graduated Mary Helen moved back to Austin to live with her big sister Elizabeth. Working at the Pruitt Creamery she was noticed by a handsome young man recently back from WW II, James Sterling Bargsley from Oak Hill, Texas. The two were introduced and became a couple, getting married on December 17, 1949. The match was made in heaven and resulted in three boys: Larry Swain, Timothy Wayne and Bryan David. Mary Helen worked as a professional office secretary at the Steck Company, then later at the Texas Department of Health where she retired. All the while raising three boys, "mama tried!" The family enjoyed weekends away from home at two properties, Lake Travis and Oak Hill. In her free time she enjoyed country western swing music, traveling, bird watching, plants and time with her family. Retirement was a real joy with grandchildren Chase, James and Greg. The happy couple also joined a musical RV group eventually becoming a real band, the "Texas Travelers" who liked to play country western swing music in the campground. The men played the music and the wives provided support. These were the best times and eventually the group slowed down and settled back to their homes to retire gracefully. The happy couple's real joy was the family as they celebrated birthdays and holidays together including grandkids.
