Mary Ella Barnett, born on January 29, 1943, in Meridian, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at her home on February 9, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Shelton and Winner Klein Shelton. She was 82 years old.
On April 2, 1961, she married Freddie Barnett, marking the beginning of a loving partnership that spanned over six decades, during which they built Barnett's Body Shop together.
Mary is survived by her three children: son Jeff Barnett (wife Julie Barnett), daughter Samantha Barnett Lofton (husband Joel Lofton), and son Greg Barnett (wife Kelly Barnett). She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Ben Barnett, Beth Pitts, Corey Lofton, Luke Lofton, Carly Barnett, and Landry Barnett, along with seven great-grandchildren.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, known for her unwavering commitment to her family and her lifelong service to the Lord through kindness and generosity. She touched the lives of all who knew her and will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and the surrounding community. Mary loved working in her garden and cultivating a beautiful yard.
A private service was held on February 14, 2025, at Lakeland Place Memorial Park. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
