Mrs. Mary Kathryn (Adams) Barnett, age 87, of Temple, peacefully passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025. Born in Rosedale, Georgia on January 26, 1938, she was the cherished daughter of the late T.M. Adams and Emma (Evans) Adams King. Mrs. Barnett was also preceded in death by her step-father, Grady L King; one sister Katie Corbin King, and by son, Timothy M. Cordle.
After earning her Bachelor’s degree, Mrs. Barnett began her professional career as a Lab Technician at Tuomey Hospital in South Carolina. She later joined the Harbin Clinic in Rome, where she dedicated many years of service before her retirement. Mrs. Barnett was a faithful follower of Christ, often described as a “True Christian.” Her active involvement in her faith community included teaching Sunday school and serving on various committees at New Hope Baptist Church in Rosedale. Following her move to Temple, she became a valued member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Villa Rica, participating in the Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU).
Kathryn's devotion to her family was profound, and she cherished her loved ones dearly. She is survived by her husband of twenty-five years, Raymond L. Barnett of Temple; her two sons, John M. Cordle and wife, Terry of Honea Path, South Carolina, and Anthony A. Cordle of Sumpter, South Carolina; her daughter, Angela Cordle Berry and husband, Gene of Belleair Beach, Florida; her step-children, David Barnett and wife, Ramona of Bowdon, and Susan Jordan and husband, Dennis of Temple; her sister, Ann Eubanks of Euharlee, Georgia; as well as her grandson, Avery Berry and his wife, Katherine Elizabeth Berry; her great-granddaughter, Evangeline Faye Berry. Mrs. Barnett is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Sabrina Cook, Mandy Racey, Gidget Price, Bridgette Furr, Raymond Barnett, Rachel West, Hannah Furr, Colton Barnett. and many other relatives who will hold her memory close.
In accordance with Mrs. Barnett's wishes, she will be cremated. The family plans to host a memorial service at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at a later date. Following the service, her urn will be interred at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in the Rosedale community, located in Floyd County.
