Mary Beckstrom Obituary

Mary Louise A. Beckstrom passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4th, 2025, at the age of 88.

Mary Lou was born in Milwaukee on May 31st, 1937, to George and Laura Theis. She graduated from Messmer High School and then worked at the Gas Company. After getting married, she spent time in the Madison area and Illinois before settling in New Berlin to raise her two young children. Mary Lou worked part time at Treasure Island and then McDonalds, until eventually acquiring a job at North Western Mutual Life Insurance Company (hello free lunches).

Mary Lou was a loving, supportive mother. She always had a smile on her face and an upbeat disposition. Mary Lou loved children, and her own children were the center of her life. She tirelessly drove her children to activities and friend's houses. She was the mom who would come get her teenage children at any time of the night. Mary Lou made sure that all her children's friends felt welcome at her home. It was not uncommon for Mary Lou to welcome various friends of her teenage children, as well as friend's animals to stay/live at her home in New Berlin. When her children became adults, she pitched in to help with whatever tasks needed to be done, while always staying cheerful and supportive. Mary Lou was always generous with her time.

Mary Lou enjoyed various activities throughout the years. She bowled, played Sheepshead, and played the slot machines with friends. She also enjoyed shopping for deals, and watching the Brewers and Packers play. Mary Lou was fortunate to have gone to Cuba with friends as a young adult. She also enjoyed visiting New York City and went there on 3 occasions.

Mary Lou spent her retirement years helping raise her 2 grandchildren. She lovingly cared for them, generously bought clothes for them, and patiently spent time with them. She attended all of their sports, dance, and music activities.

When Mary Lou's great grandson was born, she was thrilled to have a baby in her life again. She enjoyed holding him and watching him play.

Mary Lou is survived by her two children Bradley Beckstrom, and Kristin Petermann (Dan). As well as her 2 grandchildren Jackson Petermann (Gennah) and Jillian Petermann (Steven), and her great grandson Colton Petermann.

Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents, George and Laura Theis, as well as her brothers, Robert and Ronald Theis.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 1:00 PM until the time of the Funeral Service at 3:00 PM at CHURCH AND CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1875 North Calhoun Road, Brookfield, WI.
