Scott Francis Schroeder, age 74, passed away peacefully from kidney failure on Thursday, February 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Scott was a devoted father to Angie Schroeder, Lewis Schroeder, and Ashley Schroeder Nagel (Jared Nagel); a loving papa to Layla Stilwell; a caring brother to Diane Ketner and David Schroeder; a kind uncle to Chad Ketner and Kodi Jensen; and former husband to Maureen Schroeder.
Scott was born on July 13, 1951, in
Waupaca, Wisconsin, one of four children born to the late Donna and Lewis Schroeder. He graduated from Waupaca High School and went on to attend Milwaukee Area Technical College, where he pursued his calling as a funeral director-a profession he dedicated himself to for 25 years. Later in life, Scott transitioned into the automotive industry, where he enjoyed meeting new people and helping others with their needs.
Scott had a lifelong love of the outdoors and cherished hunting and fishing trips with friends, as well as boating, which he enjoyed throughout his life. Time spent with family was especially important to him, and he loved gathering together to celebrate life's moments, with Christmas holding a special place in his heart. Gourmet dining nights with neighbors were another favorite tradition and a chance to enjoy good food and even better company. He spent many summers hosting gatherings, and the Fourth of July was one of his favorite holidays.
Scott was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers, loved watching Judge Judy, and never turned down chicken wings and a Diet Pepsi. He proudly shared his time and talents with the Holy Apostles Church community for over 40 years, where he especially loved serving in hospitality.
Dad, we love you and will miss you terribly. You were more than a father-you were the sunshine of our lives. You will always be in our hearts, and your memories will live on.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the kind, caring, and professional staff at St. Luke's Hospital for their compassionate care. We would also like to thank Steve at Church and Chapel Funeral Home in New Berlin, who worked with Scott for 25 years and showed exceptional dedication and thoughtfulness.
In accordance with Scott's wishes, the Schroeder family will hold a celebration of life rather than a traditional funeral service. Scott especially enjoyed celebrating his birthday each year with his children at Matty's Grille New Berlin, listening to music and enjoying the patio. His Celebration of Life will be held on July 12, 2026, beginning at 1:00 PM for anyone who wishes to show their care and support to the family. His ashes will be spread in his favorite places, including the Waupaca Chain O'Lakes and Lake Michigan.
