Age 74 of Morris, Illinois passed away Saturday evening, November 2, 2024, at Morris Hospital.
Born on December 8, 1949, in Morris, Illinois, Mary Madeline was a daughter of Francis E. Sr. and Frances Agnes (Adams) Halpin. She grew up in Gardner, where she graduated from Gardner South Wilmington High School. With a passion for helping others, Mary pursued her education in nursing at St. Joseph College of Nursing.
Throughout her career, Mary initially working in hospitals before transitioning to skilled care facilities, where her compassion and dedication shone brightly.
A devoted member of First Baptist Church in Morris, Mary found joy in her faith and the community she cherished. Beyond her commitment to nursing and church, she had a passion for collecting porcelain dolls and enjoyed watching NASCAR, a love she shared with her late husband, Dan.
Above all, Mary was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she cherished time spent with them.
Survivors include her two sons, Aaron Wendel of Morris and Adam Wendel of Oglesby, Illinois; five grandchildren: Aaron Wendel, Madeline Wendel, Anna Wendel, McKenna Mae Wendel and Matthew Wendel; one great grandson, Sylas James Wendel; one brother, Francis “Frank” (Debra) Halpin of Gardner and her sister, Donna (Bill) Wethington of Coal City, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Robert “Dan” Beldon.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block east of Illinois Route 47) in Morris on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service, 12:00 p.m. Pastor Steve Larson from First Baptist Church of Morris will officiate, and burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Morris. Mary will be laid to rest with her late husband, Dan.
