Mary Kate "Katy" Belew

Mary Belew Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Parsons-Ellis Funeral Home - Earth on Jan. 8, 2025.
Mary Kate Belew (Ramseur), lovingly known as Katy, was called home to be with the Lord on January 2, 2025. Katy was born on September 20, 1939 to Dave and Blanche Ramseur in Brownfield, Texas.
Katy grew up on a farm in Tokio, Texas, and shortly after high school she met the love of her life, Edward Robert "Bob" Belew, and they were married on October 2, 1959. They made their home in Earth, Texas where Bob joined his father in the ginning and farming business, and Katy owned and operated a gift shop.
Katy will be fondly remembered for playing the piano and organ. She volunteered and performed for the Earth United Methodist Church for 25 years, played at multiple functions and celebrations for the Springlake-Earth community, and gave piano lessons to many youth. In 1986 Katy and Bob moved to Grand Prairie, Texas where Katy lived life fully with family and friends, and worked in several different facets of the workforce until recently relocating to Kerrville, Texas to reside with her son Biff and his family.
In addition to Katy's musical talents, she will always be remembered for her keen eye for fashion, her dramatic jewelry, as well as her love of the color pink. Her sense of style was just one aspect of the vibrant personality that endeared her to all who knew her. Described as kind-hearted and loving, Katy touched the lives of many with her friendliness, warmth and compassion.
Katy is survived by her three children, Brene Belew-LaDue (Peter LaDue) from Granby, Colorado; Biff (Elizabeth) Belew from Kerrville, Texas; and Bart (Charlene) Belew from Garden City, Texas. Grandchildren include Dusty (Brianna) Walker, Blaine (Brittney) Walker, Jacob Belew, Colton (Shaelin) Belew, and Emma Belew-LaDue. Great-grandchildren are Cooper Walker, Sadey Walker, Hayes Walker, Beau Belew, and baby girl Walker due March 2025. Other loved-ones include sister-in-law Beth Phifer, niece Peri Phifer, and nephew Jerry Don Huckabee.
Katy is preceded in death by her husband Bob; parents Dave & Blanche Ramseur; in-laws Hershel and Golda Belew; brother Patrick (Ruth) Ramseur; brother-in-law Ray Phifer; niece Panda Phifer; nephew Phil Phifer; and great-grandson Hutton Walker.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Dusty Walker, Blaine Walker, Jacob Belew and Colton Belew, with her great-grandsons, Cooper Walker, Hayes Walker, and Beau Belew as honorary pallbearers.
The funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Eli Garrido at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at the Earth Methodist Church, with the burial to follow at the Earth Memorial Cemetery. Fellowship will take place with the family after internment at the church hall.
The Belew family would like to offer a special thank you to all of the nursing home staff at River Hills Health and Rehabilitation for the kindness, loving care and friendship so freely given to our beloved Katy. Her family also extends gratitude beyond measure to Juanita Morales, whose devoted friendship gave her so much love and joy.
The family requests that memorials be made in remembrance of Katy Belew to: Alzheimer's Association at https://www.alz.org/.

I met Katy at work and I loved her laughter, we clicked immediately. Went on many vacations together. I've missed not being close by to see Katy, she was a honest and lovable lady.
