We are broken hearted to announce the passing of our beloved mom.
Mary Universale-Bianco, of Lawerence, NY, was born on May 26th, 1932.
Mary was pre-deceased by her first love, Mario Unviversale, who she met at her sweet 16. They were married two years later on June 4th, 1950. After being widowed for 4 years, Mary was lucky to find love once again when she met Salvatore Bianco while on a trip to Italy. They were married May 6th, 1984 and shared a wonderful life together until Salvatore passed away.
Mary was a dedicated community activist who was involved with the Inwood Civic Association and was awarded Inwood Citizen of the Year in 1988. She was the Executive Zone Leader for the Inwood-North Lawerence Democratic Club for many years. Mary was the President of the Rosary Society of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Inwood, NY. She was the honored with of the Rockville Centre Diocese St. Agnes Community Service Award in 2013.
Mary was the daughter of Philomena and Saverio Scotto (both deceased). She was the beloved sister of Paul Scotto (Irene, both deceased), and the cherished mother of Marie Tantillo (Joseph) and Leona Cittadino (Vincent). She was a special mom to three step daughters in Italy: Lena Langella (Angelo), Annalisa Terrone (Pino), and Susie Bianco.
She was the adored grandmother of Marissa Licata (John), Felicia Cittadino, Giuseppe Langella (Anna), and Paolo Langella. Beloved great-grandmama to Gia & Lucas Licata and Sveva & Angelo Langella. Mary leaves behind her nieces and nephews and many cousins.
She will be missed by all who knew her. We love you mom! 'Till we meet again.
