Mary Lillian Boyd, age 59, of Etowah, Tennessee, made her heavenly transition on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Tennova Hospital at Turkey Creek in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was born on March 12, 1966.
Mary was a devoted member of The Church of God Santified in Athens, TN, where she found strength in her faith and fellowship within her church family. She was known for her gentle spirit, warm heart, and unwavering love for her family. Mary’s life was marked by kindness, perseverance, and a deep commitment to those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, George Edward Boyd and Annie Mae Boyd, and her beloved sister, Melanie Sharp of Etowah, Tennessee.
Mary leaves to cherish her precious memories her two sons, Julian Latron Boyd of Athens, Tennessee, and Denzell Shivez Boyd of Greensboro, North Carolina; grandson, Jilyn Boyd and great-grandson, Jaxten Isaiah James Boyd. Two sisters, Faye Ann Boyd of Cleveland, Tennessee, and Charlotte Lanel Boyd of Lascassas, Tennessee; and one brother, George Lee (Sonya) Boyd of Athens, Tennessee. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and beloved cousins, all of whom she loved dearly. Special friends, Grenay Hammonds, and Robert Alverson.
Mary Lillian Boyd will be remembered for her quiet strength, loving nature, and the joy she brought into the lives of those around her. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 19, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home – Athens, Tn., with Minister Mae Hammonds delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at New Zion Cemetery in Etowah, TN.
