Mother Mary Elizabeth Caldwell

Tallahassee - Mother Mary Elizabeth Caldwell, affectionally known by many in the family as "Love", a Tallahassee native was born January 19, 1936 to the late Mary N. Bonner and was also raised by her stepfather, the late Robert Bonner. On Friday, May 27, 2022, Mary E. Caldwell, suddenly and very peacefully transitioned to her eternal home. She was a member of St. Mary P.B. Church.
She attended Griffin High School and Florida A&M University. She worked at two historic landmarks in Tallahassee- Economy Drugstore (where she was known for her ice cream floats) and the Old Florida State Capital. She also taught school for over 25 years at Riley Elementary School.
Survivors include one son, Rev. Willie Caldwell, Jr.; one daughter, Audra Y. Wiggins (Cloys Tyrone); three granddaughters, Stephanie N. Caldwell- Covington, GA, Sheena M. Caldwell- Dunwoody, GA. and Desiree M. Caldwell- Kissimmee, FL; two grandsons Darius T. Caldwell- Duluth, GA. and Cloys Tyrone Wiggins II- Tallahassee, FL; one great-grandson, Collin J. Caldwell- Covington, GA; one beloved godson, Chris Wyche (Lakisha); dear friends, Glover Harris (Doris), Isaac Pope (Patricia) and Carrie Sims; and a host of dear nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Willie Caldwell, Sr.; daughter in law, Emma Caldwell; and a dear friend, Obadiah Sims.
Funeral service will be 10 A.M. FRIDAY, June 3, 2022 at the Old West Florida Enrichment Center, with burial at Old City Cemetery. Viewing will be from 5 PM to 7 PM (Today) Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Strong & Jones Funeral Home.
