Mary Kerry Campbell, "Kerry" age 55, passed away unexpectedly on July 17, 2024, at her home in Great Neck, NY. Kerry is survived by her loving partner of 30 years Sharon Chalmers, her mother Barbara A. McKenna-Brand of Old Orchard Beach, Maine and her father Daniel J. Campbell and his wife, Froni of Trinity, Florida. She was the youngest of four siblings and the beloved sister to Carolyn Campbell, Elizabeth Campbell Jenney (Gary) and Danny Campbell. She was a cherished and devoted aunt to her three nieces Brittany (Jenn), Kaley and Courtney (Anthony). She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and many second cousins.
Kerry was born on January 9, 1969, in Northport, New York. Kerry and her family moved briefly to California, then to Connecticut. Maine became her home throughout her elementary and high school years, graduating from Catherine McCauley High School in Portland, Maine. She attended the University of Maine in Orono, graduating in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater Arts. She moved to New York after college to pursue her love of the theater and made this her home for the next 30 years. She worked in various positions related to the theater throughout her life, including the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts where she worked until 2023. Her most recent position was at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY Long Island with the Bridges to Adelphi program for neurodiverse students, working as an Administrative Assistant and Receptionist. She had recently shared how grateful she was for this opportunity to work with such an inspiring program.
Kerry's love of the theater continued throughout her life, and she would often volunteer as an usher for plays and auditioned for some off- Broadway productions. She was passionate about many things, taking a particular interest in the political discourse of our country. She once entered and won a statewide speech contest being asked to speak on "If I Were President". Kerry was a strong advocate for mental health and was planning on pursuing a career as a mental health counselor.
Kerry was a bright light and a beautiful spirit. She touched countless lives with her compassionate, caring nature and was a loyal, longtime friend to many. Her memory will be in our hearts forever and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
Rest in Peace our beautiful Mary Kerry

Kerry brought joy to so many people's lives and being in her presence was a gift. I had the pleasure of working with Kerry at a prop house in New York and everyone adored her. Kerry was the heart and soul of our company. She was given the title "Director of First Impressions," which was so perfect because she would continue to leave a lasting impression on us all.

Kerry had a rare ability to connect with anyone she met. Her soothing speaking voice, warm smile, and genuine concern for others was incredibly moving.

I am so grateful to have known Kerry and will continue to keep her in my thoughts and in my heart. Sending my love to Sharon, Kerry´s family, and friends.

There were days filled with chaos from auditions to join NYCDA till the day I picked up my Diploma. If this had a signature it was Kerry. Her smile you can just feel her energy as you walked up those stairs. I am in shock. A human filled with kindness, passion, dedication and courage. I am speechless.

I had the pleasure of being graced by Kerry´s presence both as a student then as a colleague. Kerry undeniably was and is such a great person. She always cheered me on even after I left. Keeping in touch and checking in on me till this year. We use to have our lovely chats behind the counter and she was always known for pouring into anyone she met - that´s just who she was. This is such sad news, but I have no doubt that she´s shining so bright like she always did. My deepest condolences to her partner Sharon and her family. God bless you Kerry. I pray you´re at peace and resting

I feel, people that have a wise soul, are understanding the reason why she had a short stay at this dimension.
It´s no surprise to me she had it short.
She was to bright and to empathetic to life under these circumstances. ( TIME period)
We will meet again.
Mrs Karry. Sooner or later we will, meet again and talk about all the things that we where to much aware of already.
They will may make sense than.
Rather than hurting us, as they do now.
This is not a good bye. This is a see you later.
We will meet gain, there will be everyone of us will be equal.
And transparent.
No more fakes just the facts karry.
Just facts and Love.
As you always said .

I lost both my grandmothers this year, & one of my grandmothers lovely long time aides passed unexpectedly, & now Kerry. This loss also feels significant because I, as it seems was the case for a lot of us, felt I had a special relationship with her. You could always count on Kerry to be completely present with you - it´s clear she could really listen & take a person in and meet them where they are. She really had a gift & it makes sense she was starting to go into the mental health field. She was also incredibly unique in her openness and kindness, even her style. A rare sort of person who was also such a calming presence at NYCDA, and that she was there right when we came in & left! I felt we still had that connection even though I had left NYCDA and so had she, because of being in touch through social media. Her loss hurts & I wish for everyone to take the time to grieve because it´s clear she really made an impact on so many in such a positive way and that is very special indeed. Condolences to her family and loved ones. I will miss her!

I spent many mornings and breaks at NYCDA lingering at the front desk to talk to Kerry, always wearing one of her many beautiful scarves. I´ll never forget her stopping me in my tracks to tell me she thought of me when she saw a play and that I MUST get a copy. Her enthusiasm was contagious and I went out that afternoon to get it. Kerry had such a special way of seeing people when they needed it and a kind heart that I will always remember. Sending tons of love to her family.

She was so incredibly kind and always made you feel cared for. I would make sure to say goodbye to her at the end of the day. Kerry was a maternal figure at the conservatory. Her colorful scarves, bright greetings, and never ending support made my early days at NYCDA even more special. Thank you and we love you Kerry.

Kerry always wanted to know how I was doing and had a positive uplifting spirit. Seeing her at the front desk every morning as I went to my classes always made my days better. She was so kind and it hurts to know she is no longer with us. She always wanted to help those around her feel comfortable and seen. I´ll miss you Kerry, may we always remember your beautiful loving spirit.

My heart is so broken! Kerry was such a wonderful person to me. I would often spend almost my whole break times just standing at the desk of NYCDA talking to Kerry telling her how I was, what I was working on, how my family was, and how I was in general. I suffer from depression and often went through hard events in life making anxiety and depression heightened and Kerry always knew how to make me feel seen and heard. I had to leave NYCDA for a year and come back and she was so excited to see me coming back. She was always so loving and supportive to me. I always felt a close student to faculty relationship to her and my heart is so broken to know that she´s gone so soon. I hope you know we all love you Kerry so much and the amazing influence you had on me and all your other students, family, coworkers, friends, etc is something we will remember forever. You hold a special place in my heart and always will. We love you so much Kerry. Sending my deepest condolences to her family she loved so much and talked endlessly about in this hard time.

Kerry immediately invited you in to her happy place with her delightful demeanor, gorgeous smile and beautiful hair as you stepped off the elevator at NYCDA. She was honest, helpful, selfless and always interested in how you were. Kerry loved Sharon and always talked about her. She was a beautiful bright star that will forever shine in our sky. I will miss her dearly. Rest in peace dear Kerry. We all love you. Sending my deepest sympathies to her family and Sharon.

I am just hearing of this and am deeply saddened. I worked with Kerry at NYCDA where I was on the faculty. She always had a kind word for everyone, knew all the students names and was the glue that kept everything going at the front desk. My condolences to her loved ones. She left us too soon and will be missed.

First thing in the morning of getting to school at NYCDA, getting off the elevator, and seeing her bright smile. If you were in a bad mood already in the morning, just walking into that school and experiencing her aura and super friendly character would like up your whole day. Kerry was an amazing woman and she will be missed surely by me and by thousands of other people who have encountered her sweet character. She will forever be remembered and she will always be missed. We love you Kerry! Rest easy

She had amazing fashion. I loved her scarves and she often wore the color green. She had an amazing heart, and it radiated out of her. Everyone loved her and had nothing but kind words to say. She would always offer amazing advice. She was so considerate, truly kind, and when I saw her at NYCDA I knew I was gonna have a good day. I will miss her very much. She inspired me and made many people feel seen. I hope she knows how loved she was and is. All the love to her and her family. <3

Sometimes I´d be having the worst days and Kerry always knew how to cheer me up. All she had to do was smile . Every morning when I would walk out of the elevators at NYCDA she would greet me with pure kindness and positivity. We both created her nick name the "prop queen" because she was always the one to help me get what I needed. You will definitely be missed Kerry . Rest easy beautiful
