Mary M. Cattern, 89, of Titusville, FL, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Born to the late Howard and Margaret Johnston in Oconto, WI, Mary devoted her life to education and service.
She earned her teaching degree from St. Norbert College in De Pere, WI, and went on to have a fulfilling career as a speech pathologist. A passionate snowbird, she cherished her time in both Wisconsin and Florida.
Mary was a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers-her spirited "Go Pack Go!" could often be heard echoing through her home. She was a proud member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she found community and purpose. Mary enjoyed her time with the Red Hat Ladies and the Black Hat Ladies, and she took delight in making handmade cards for loved ones, spreading joy with her creativity.
A beloved neighbor and friend, Mary played cards three times a week, sharing laughter and camaraderie. She is survived by her children, Kevin (Sarah) Smet, Sheri Trest, and Christi (Scott) Quigley; her cherished grandchildren, Michelle, Rachel, Ryan, Riley, Amanda, Sarah, Alyssa, Tyler, Brandon, Sean, and Hayden; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mary was predeceased by her first husband, Paul Smet, and her second husband, Frank Cattern, whom she married in 1995 in Las Vegas.
Mary's warmth, humor, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, details to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a local charity of your choice in her memory.
