Mary Ellen Roland Champlin, age 91, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed into the arms of our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
Mary was the wonderful homemaker, full-time wife and mother, Christian friend and neighbor found anywhere.
Born March 1, 1933, she grew up in Enola, Arkansas at Mt. Vernon and was the second born in a family of five children. Mary knew all about working to help the family during the “depression years.” She was very creative in making do with what she had or managing to figure out a different way to accomplish what needed to be done.
Mary was a very loving soul that touched many lives by helping and guiding in any way possible. Mary helped with the children in the neighborhood, church, and school. You might just say Mary was great with children and families.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, James O. Champlin; mother, Cora Roland; brother, George W. Roland and sister, Martha Roland. She is survived by her two daughters, Janice Champlin Muse and Brenda Champlin Yarbrough; sister, Helen Hitt; brother, Don Roland; grandchildren, DeNise Muse Enck (Bob) and David Groce (Cristin); great-grandchildren, Max Enck, Ella Grace Enck, Nolan Groce, Mae Groce and several step-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Smith-Sherwood Funeral Home (7700 Hwy 107) with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at 16th Section Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Baptist Children’s Home or The Gideon’s.
