Mary Chancy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium on Jul. 19, 2023.
Mary A. "Hunce" Chancy, 91, of Beloit, WI, transitioned on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at her place of residence.
Mary was born on December 4, 1931 in Montgomery, AL, the daughter of James and Mrytice (Dubose) Leverette. Mary was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. She married Charles T. Chancy on June 16, 1951 in Montgomery, AL. He preceded her in death on September 9, 2019.
Mary was a proud homemaker who opened her home and heart to all. Mary was an active and beloved member of Second Baptist Church in La Grange, IL. For Mary, God and family always came first. Mary was a force to be reckoned with. Mary loved cooking for family, traveling, game shows, and puzzles. Her home was always full of warmth and love. Mary made time for everyone, and always made sure to check in on neighbors, family, and friends. We may have lost a matriarch, but heaven has surely gained an angel.
Survivors include her daughters, Gloria Person and Alice Chancy; sisters, Virginia Taylor, Betty Gardner, and Barbara Page; brother, Gus Chancy; grandchildren, John Chancy, Brock Chancy, Anthony Chancy, Theo Chancy, James Chancy and Darius Chancy; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mary was predeceased by her parents; husband, Charles "CT" Chancy; sons, Charles Edward Chancy and Ray Chancy; brothers, LeRoy Leverette, James C. Leverette, and Julius Leverette.
A Funeral Service for Mary will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium with Dr. Rev. Virginia Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Parkholm Cemetery, La Grange, IL, on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation of Remembrance will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday in the funeral home.
