Mary Wylene Cole, born on January 10, 1940, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025, in Pine Prairie, Louisiana. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, whose vibrant spirit and culinary talents touched the lives of all who knew her.
Wylene was the cherished daughter of Rene Deshotel and Lena Ortego, and she grew up in a close-knit family. Her upbringing instilled in her the values of hard work and the importance of loyalty, which she carried into her own life as she nurtured her family. She found love with Leroy Cole, and together they shared a life filled with joy and laughter until his passing.
A pillar of strength, Wylene dedicated her life to her family, finding immense joy in the roles she embraced. Her son Bobby Cole and partner Stephanie Ardoin carries her legacy forward, and she took great pride in watching her family grow. She celebrated the bonds with her grandson Randall Cole, partner Adrian Cole, and reveled in the delight that her great grandchildren, Randi, Nicholas and partner Sydia, Nathan and partner Alyssia, Ella, and great great grandchildren, Olivia and Beckam, brought her. Each moment spent with them was a treasure, filled with stories, laughter, and love.
An exceptional cook and baker, Wylene had an uncanny ability to bring family together around the dinner table, where her delicious meals created a tapestry of memories. She often spent long hours in her garden, cultivating not only plants but also the joy of nurturing life around her. Dancing was among her many passions, a joyful expression of her carefree spirit that delighted her family during gatherings.
Wylene is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Leroy Cole, her father, Rene Deshotel, her mother, Lena Ortego, as well as her brother Donald Lee Deshotel and sister Berthaline Deshotel. She also mourned the loss of her grandchild, Robert Cole, who she loved dearly.
In celebration of Wylene's remarkable life, visitation services will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou, Louisiana, on December 2, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on December 3, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The funeral service will also take place at Ardoin's Funeral Home on December 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM, followed by her burial at New St. Ann Cemetery at 12:00 PM.
Her indomitable spirit and the love she shared with her family will forever remain etched in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. Mary Wylene Cole will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and warmth will continue to inspire as it weaves through the fabric of her family's lives.
