Mary Ann Crabtree, 86, daughter of Troy & Louise Joy (Brownlee) Hall, was born October 13, 1936 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at the New Homestead in Guthrie Center, Iowa.
Mary Ann grew up in Bethany, MO and graduated from high school there. She went on to Simpson College where she met Dennis C. Crabtree and they later married in 1957. Four sons were born to this union. They lived in Germany for 2 years while Dennis served in the Army. Following his honorable discharge, they moved to Red Oak for a short time. They made their home in various communities such as Osceola, Leon, Aplington, Stuart, Dallas Center, and in 1983, Lake Panorama. In 1988, they divorced and Mary Ann moved to Yale, where she met James Peer and remained together until his death in 2009. She worked at the Panora grocery store for the last 36 years.
Mary Ann enjoyed playing golf, quilting, needlepoint, crossword puzzles, cooking, and spoiling her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Scott (Renee) of Pleasant Hill, MO; Lyndon of Sequim, WA; Trent of Kansas City, MO; Robert of Chandler, AZ; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Terry Hall.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 15, 2023 at the Panora United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, IA at a later date. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the services at the church.
Memorials may be left to Panora PETS.
