Mary Joan Crain, age 92, passed away peacefully at Eden Village Retirement Center on May 28, 2025

She was born October 8, 1932 in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of Francis Edward Winans and Mary Frances Winans. She married Thomas G. Crain February 26, 1954 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 5, 2002.

She is survived by three daughter, Lisa Gavin, Lynette Sproull, and Laura Reller, eight grandchildren, Michael Gavin, Victoria Krieg, Patrick Gavin, Emily Stout, Abigail Tucker, Erich Brinkmeyer, Celeste Sproull, and Donovan Sproull, 3 great grandchildren, Isla, Vera, and Elliot, and one great grandson on the way, Evan.

Joan was very involved with her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. She also loved her cats and rescued many from homelessness.

Per family request, no memorial service will be held. The family suggests memorials to Partners For Pets in Troy, Illinois, Five A's Animal Shelter in Alton, Illinois, or Eden Retirement Center in Glen Carbon, Illinois.
