Mary Ann Curtis was born on December 15, 1950, to Genord and Leola (Jackson) Nealey in Midway, Texas. She attended school at A.V. Lee in Midway, Texas and later moved to Marian Anderson School in Madisonville, Texas.
She accepted Christ at an early age at Antioch Church of Christ and remained faithful until her death. She loved her church family and helping others, working outside in the yard, and traveling with family and friends. She could make a meal out of anything and made the best berry cobbler in the world. Children loved to come to her house because she loved spending time with all of them.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Curtis; son, Rickey Nealey; parents, Genord and Leola Nealey; three brothers, Henry Lee, Anthony Wayne, and Johnny Nealey; and two sisters, Mattie Lee and Minnie Moore.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, children, Stephanie Curtis, Veronica Curtis, Marian Curtis, Jacqueline Curtis, Latonya Curtis, Kirk (Tiffany) Curtis, Trent (Amber) Curtis, and Dorita Johnson, all of Madisonville, Texas, and Felicia Curtis of Huntsville, Texas; siblings, Betty Jackson of Houston, Texas, Tracy (Sherman) Bromley of Port Arthur, Texas, David (Sonia) Nealey of Bryan, Texas, Linda Kendrick, Cheryl (Dalton) Jackson, D.C. (Joyce) Nealey and Lamar (Susan) Nealey, all of Midway, Texas, and Bobby (Renae) Nealey, Barbara (Frank) Holmes, Odessa (Thomas) Walker and Johnnie Merchant, all of Madisonville, Texas; a special aunt, Theodora Greene of Madisonville, Texas; twenty-four grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A homegoing service for Mary Ann Curtis will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, August 10, 2024, at North Madison Church of Christ in Madisonville, Texas. Bro. Elmer Josey will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Southside Cemetery, Midway, Texas. A public visitation will take place from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
