Mrs. Mary Cvelic (née Zgombic) passed away at the age of 83, lovingly surrounded by her family on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 after a valiant battle with breast cancer.

Mary was born on October 25, 1941 in the village of Oštrobradic, on the island of Krk, Croatia, to Ivan and Mare Žgombic. She immigrated to the United States in 1961 and shortly thereafter, Mary met and married her late husband, John Cvelic. Together, they shared a beautiful life for 56 years and became life-long residents of Astoria, Queens.

Mary is survived by her son, Joseph Cvelic (Margaret) and her daughter, Mary Ann Dujmovic (Josip), her five grandchildren, Joseph Dujmovic, John Dujmovic (Kelley), Olivia Stuart (Matthew), Joseph Cvelic, Peter Dujmovic and her great-granddaughter, Capri Dujmovic, all of whom were a constant source of pride and joy for Mary.

Mary was a hard worker, was known for her tenacious spirit and for always helping her family and friends whenever necessary. Over the years, Mary enjoyed trips back home to her beloved Croatia, playing a good game of rummy with her sisters and sister-in-law, and ultimately, spending time with those who mattered most.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, The Make-A-Wish Foundation or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in Mary's memory.
