Mary was born February 2, 1944, and was the daughter of Arthur and Regina (nee Pedtke) Luechtefeld. She was united in marriage to Richard Czerniejewski at St. Ann Catholic Church in Nashville, IL on October 19, 1963. In addition to her parents, Rich preceded her in death on March 10, 2012.
Mary was a devout Catholic and a member of the Altar and Rosary Sodality. She was also a teacher and principal for many years at St. Michael's School in Radom, IL and at St. Ann's School in Nashville, IL until her retirement. Mary enjoyed reading and eating out but more than anything she loved all of her "kids" that she taught throughout the years. In her younger years she enjoyed riding horses and taking motorcycle rides with Rich and their friends.
Mary is survived by her loving Goddaughter and special caretaker, Lisa (John) Pelczynski & family; sisters-in-law, Esther Spotanski, MaryAnn Kasban and Severine Czerniejewski; as well as several nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Also surviving her passing is a special great-niece Katie McDaniel and others who were at Mary's side including her dear friend Linda Jankowski, her wonderful neighbors, close friends, and many relatives who loved her greatly and will truly miss her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom, IL on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 10 A.M. with Fr. George Nwachukwu officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Ashley, IL on Monday from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. and then on Tuesday from 8 A.M. until 9:30 A.M. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Monday at 4:30 P.M.
Should friends desire, mass offerings or memorials may be made to the St. Michael Cemetery and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
