Mary Evalene (Swanigan) (Miller) Dampier, daughter of the late Ova and Clara (Kidwell) Swanigan, was born on August 24, 1938 in Celt, MO and departed this life on July 21, 2024 at the Ozark Care and Nursing Center in Ozark, MO. At the time of her passing she was 85 years, 11 months, and 27 days of age.
Mary was baptized at an early age at the Celt Baptist Church. She graduated from Tunas High School. After her graduation, she worked for a long time at the Mom and Pops Café in Louisburg, MO. She was such a hard worker and held many jobs over the years. She also worked at the Buffalo Burger in Buffalo, MO for several years as well as Key Industries for 18 years. She gave her all at every job she held.
Mary was united in marriage to Freddie Miller on April 1, 1961 and to this union two sons, Freddie Lawrence Mill and David Keith Miller and one daughter, Clara Marie (Miller) Hampton were born. She had a love for Bluegrass and Country Music and loved spending time with her family.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Freddie on June 4, 1984; her first son, Freddie Lawrence Miller on December 25, 2022; her parents; three brothers, Bual Swanigan, Jerry Swanigan, and Johnny Lynn Swanigan; and two sisters, Beulah Spence and Betty Hicks. She is survived by her daughter, Clara Marie (Miller) Harmon; one son, David Miller; two sisters, Ann Thiesen and Judy Johnson; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She also leaves many nephews, nieces, and friends who will all truly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home with Bro. Dick Clay officiating. Escorts will be Joshua Miller, Joseph Miller, David Miller, Cody Hicks, Mark Thiesen, and Henry Thiesen. Interment will be in the Mission Ridge Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home.
