Mary Angela (LaDuke) Denton, 83, of Plattsburgh, NY, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, at Meadowbrook Nursing Home. Mary was one of the strongest women to ever walk this earth and her family feels blessed to have had her in their lives.
She was born on April 17, 1942, in Plattsburgh, the daughter of Wilfred and Hazel (Daniels) LaDuke. After graduating from high school, where she played the baritone saxophone and was a member of the girl's basketball team, she went on to what would be a successful career in management at various financial institutions, retiring from Arizona State Credit Union.
After meeting and marrying Jack Denton of Granville, NY, Jack and Mary, and their children, Lisa and Dean, lived the Air Force family life, moving to several states over the years. They started in New York, ended-up in Arizona, with New Jersey and Maine in-between. In Arizona, Mary was involved in the Elks Club, where she became a dedicated member and participant of many committees and events throughout the years, volunteering her time and talents to plan and coordinate activities and charity drives. It was during her years in the Elks Club that she discovered her love of slot machines and video poker. If you knew her, then you would have known her fondness for a fun trip to Laughlin, Las Vegas, or any other casino with her friends and family.
Mary was predeceased by her parents.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children; Lisa (Brian) Sampson of Phoenix, AZ, and Dean (Brooke) Denton of Waverly Hall, GA, sisters; Barbara (Alvin) Thompson of Plattsburgh, NY, Jane Kowalowski (Steve Barrett) of Plattsburgh, NY, Sally Staves of Plattsburgh, NY; brother, William (Barbara) LaDuke of Lyon Mountain, NY. She is also survived by four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and seven nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY 12901.
