A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Theresa Church in Abbeville for Mary Evelyn Comeaux Detraz, age 77, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at her home in Abbeville, surrounded by family and friends.

A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at St. Theresa Church in Abbeville.

Mary E. Detraz was born on October 20, 1948 in Abbeville, and she was a lifelong resident of Vermilion parish. She attended college at the University of South Louisiana and received a degree in education. She was a dedicated teacher for many years. She loved gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. She was affectionally known as "Grandy" to many who loved her. She was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed.

Mary E. Detraz is survived by her son, Luke "Sonny" M. Detraz; her brother, Danny Comeaux, her sister-in-law, Jeannie Comeaux; her nephews, Rome Comeaux and Kyle Comeaux; her niece, Lisa Detraz; her grandchildren, Seth M. Detraz, Jake M. Detraz, Lindsey A. Detraz, and Ty M. Detraz; her great-grandchildren, Jalyn N. Guillory, Carson M. Detraz, Wyat M. Detraz, and Owen J. Detraz; as well as a grand-daughter-in-law, Amanda L. Detraz.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Giles B. Comeaux and Wilford R. Comeaux; her daughter-in-law, Charlotte Z. Detraz; as well as her nephew, Kevin Comeaux.

Her family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses at Our Lady of Loudes, Hospice of Acadiana, as well as all the family and friends who compassionately cared for her in her final months.
