Mary J. Dischner was born on December 8, 1953, the third child of Myron and Loretta Dischner in Burlington, Colorado. She passed away on June 25, 2025 after an illness at St. Thomas More Hospital in Canon City, Colorado.
She received her education at St. Charles Academy and Stratton High School. After high school she worked several jobs in the Stratton and Burlington area including Stratton coop and radio dispatcher for the Colorado State Patrol in Burlington, Colorado.
In the late 1 970's she decided that she wanted a career in criminal justice. She attended the program at Pueblo Community College in Pueblo, Colorado and graduated with a degree in criminal justice in 1981 . She was hired by the
Colorado State Department of Corrections and began her career as a corrections officer. Mary worked in the Canon City and Sterling facilities for a total of 25 years, retiring as a lieutenant.
Her favorite past time was travelling throughout the country and a trip to Rome. She enjoyed reading, her friends, and of course her closest friends, her cats, Fuzzy, Cocoa, and Smokey.
She was proceeded in death by her grandparents Mike and Agnes Vinduska, Leo and Emma Dischner, her parents Myron and Loretta Dischner and brother Mark.
Mary is survived by a sister, Joyce Stockwell, Fort Pierce, FL. Brother, John
Dischner (wife Diana), Yuma, CO. Her nieces Morgan Parker (husband Mike) and Vanessa Dischner. Nephews Damon Dischner (wife Marylu) and Michael
Dischner (wife Beth). Great Nieces Mia and Danika Dischner and Madison Parker.
She leaves to mourn many cousins, great friends, neighbors and will be greatly missed.
Donations can be made to American Heart Association or Diabetes Association in her name. Love Funeral Home arranged the funeral which was held at St. Charles Catholic Church in Stratton, Colorado.
