Ms. Mary Elizabeth Dotson was born May 4, 1943, in Jacksonville, FL, to Rosie Lee Bronner Knight and Pete Knight, Jr.

Mary attended Carver High School in the Terrell County School System. She was later employed with Gunning Manufacturing/Oxford Shirt Factory and Tyson Foods.

Mary spent her life spreading joy to everyone around her. She had a true passion for life's simple pleasures-spending countless hours in her garden planting flowers and sharing the fruits of her labor with neighbors and friends. Mary Elizabeth was an incredible seamstress that made most of her clothes and was quite the model of her creations.

An avid fisherwoman, Mary loved peaceful mornings at the pond, casting a line and enjoying the quiet beauty of nature. She was also well known for her incredible talent in the kitchen. Cakes and pies were her specialty.

On Saturday, August 30, 2025, Mary passed away at the Willson Hospice House of Albany. She was preceded in death by Hurchell Dotson; parents; grandson, Jarnarius Johnson; sisters, Fannie Mae Weston, Berenice Knight Mitchell, and Cindy Knight McLemore; and brothers, Charlie Knight and Rudolph Kitchens.

Precious memories of Mary will remain with her loved ones: her children, Gregory Dotson (Christine) of North Beach, MD, Miranda Dotson Price (Timothy) of Bronwood, GA, and Nicholas Dotson (Terliski) of Woodstock, GA; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Tyree Knight (Cassandra) and Antonio Knight of Jacksonville, FL; sisters-in-law, Annette Kitchens, Glemadine Boston, Elizabeth Marshall, Ruth P. Brown (Rev Marvin), and Merline Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
