Mary Duffy Obituary
SCHENECTADY - Mary Ann Duffy, 87, went home to the Lord on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Mary was born on November 4, 1936 in Schenectady and was the daughter of the late William T. and Mary J. (Laden) Duffy, Sr. She graduated from Draper High School in Rotterdam - Class of 1955. She received a Bachelor's degree in education from Empire State College. She retired after 25 years as a school secretary in the Schenectady School District, working at Hamilton, Grout Park, and Lincoln Elementary Schools, as well as Howe International Magnet and Mont Pleasant High School.
She was also an Avon Lady for more than 20 years. She was a singer and performer with the Schenectady Musical Comedy Players and could always be coaxed to belt out a version of "C'mon a My House."
Mary is survived by her loving daughter, Denise DeCarlo (Chris Wade); her cherished grandson, Ryan Johnson; her caring nieces and nephews, Lisa Lingenfelter (Dale), Beau Duffy (Kristin), Sean Duffy and Meghan Duffy; and many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, William "Bill" and Diane Duffy Jr.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 22, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, N.Y., from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 23, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, Guilderland. Interment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
Many thanks to the staff at Albany Medical Center and the Promenade at University Place for the compassionate care given to Mary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Heart Association, or to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mary Ann Duffy.

Mary was like sunshine brightening up the room wherever she went. Anytime I ever saw her, he always had a smile on her face. My sincere condolences. There will be one less ray of sunshine here on Earth but now Heaven is even brighter.

Condolances to Maryann's family. As a classmate with her from Draper Class of 1955, we always remembered her as a fun-loving and quick-witted lady and we're so sorry to learn of her passing. May she rest in peace.

A dear school friend at Draper. Mary and I joined two other friends and formed a singing group and loved gathering for our harmony fun. I went on to sing in church choirs. So glad that Mary enjoyed musical endeavors. Prayers up for the family to cherish wonderful memories.
