**Obituary for Mary Frances Edwards**

Mary Frances Edwards, a beloved community leader and dedicated public servant, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at her home in Decatur, Georgia. She was 80 years old.

Born in Montgomery, Alabama, Mary was the eldest of three children. From a young age, she demonstrated a passion for education and public service, which would go on to define her life's work. Mary dedicated over 30 years of her career to the Dekalb County Board of Education, where she served as an esteemed elected official. Her dedication to improving the education system and her unwavering commitment to the children and families of Dekalb County were hallmarks of her service.

Mary was a pillar of strength and resilience to all who knew her. She touched the lives of countless individuals with her kindness, wisdom, and steadfast commitment to her community. Her contributions went beyond her official duties, as she continuously inspired others to strive for excellence and to advocate for equitable opportunities for all.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life and legacy at a memorial service, which will be held at Baha'i Unity Center, 2370 Wesley Chapel Rd in Decatur, Georgia, on Saturday, December 6th, 2025, at 1:00 pm.
