North Augusta, SC – Entered into rest on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Dunaway Lee, 98.
A charter member of Bethlehem Advent Christian Church, she taught and nurtured many young children in the nursery class for several decades. The entirety of her adult life was marked by extending the love, compassion and grace she experienced through Christ. She cared for the sick, counseled the hurting and was a wealth of wisdom. Her home was welcoming, loving and full of people. People who were family and those who felt like family. A true gathering place and for many their “favorite” place.
Family members include her children: Suzanne Ross, Rosemary Fields (Jim), Karen Satcher (Buddy), Chuck Lee (Carole), and Alf Lee (Kathy); grandchildren: Kristin Ross, Jamison Ross (Ronda), Andy Ross (Jennifer), Marya Lynn (Keith), Natalee Greubel, Andre Fields (Abbey), Jaclyn Vozniak (George), Brantlee Fields, Walton Satcher (Lauren), Brandon Satcher, Lynlee Purdie (Alec), Mallory Greer (Tim), Kelsey Lee, Katie Long (Andrew), Erin Brand (Brock), and Lindsay Lumpp (Brendon); 32 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; and many cherished nieces and nephews as well as her “Sunshine Boys”.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Charles M. Lee, Sr.; son: Bruce Lee; son-in-law: Wes Ross; brothers: Robert Dunaway, Thomas Dunaway, Jay Dunaway, and Billy Dunaway; sisters: Sarah Deas, Ida Ruth Dunaway, and Patricia Murphy.
The funeral service will be held Friday, October 24, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Thomas Poteet & Son Chapel with Rev. Brent Ross and Rev. Joe Pritchett officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
